So, despite being duped by a 4-year-old, I decided to use balloons. This is a super easy do-it-yourself project that will definitely elicit a few oohs and aahs. Don't believe me, see for yourself...
Did I hear an 'ooh'? Okay, how about an 'aah' with this one...
Here's how to create this look in two easy steps:
Step #1: Pick a font (this is Curlz MT) and print one or more letters on a full sheet of clear label paper.
Step #2: Cut out the letter, place it on the balloon and enjoy!
Too cute! For best results, apply the letters onto the balloons right before your event.

ReplyDeleteHi Sally Jane - I actually did cut as close as possible to the letter because I'm type A and the clear part showing would've bothered me. I don't think you would get the same effect not cutting it very closely because the "clear" part of the label paper will show up a lot on the balloon. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteI saw you used the Curlz font but what size did you use? My MS Word only has 72 and it is not showing very big. Thanks again, I'm trying to do a few for my twin girls whose birthday party is the 23rd.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally Jane - I hate to tell you this, but I can't remember the exact size font I used but it was probably 500 or 600.
ReplyDeleteYou can override the font size in MS Word by highlighting the number in the font size window and then typing in the new size. Does that make sense?
By the way, I would recommend putting the letter on the balloons until right before the party begins because it will start to peel off as the balloon deflates (like after a couple of hours I found).

ReplyDeleteQuick tip: use the rest of the space up when you print. Using photoshop or a similar program I would pack in other project needs to fill the empty space surrounding the monogram. Since you'll be cutting it out anyway...could save you so much time and money that could go toward more label paper.

After searching all night for custom balloons for my baby shower coming up this weekend... I came upon your page! Went out and bought clear label paper right away and busy cutting away letters. They are turning out wonderfully! Such an awesome idea, Thank You!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently trying to put a picture on a balloon for a graduation party but because the balloon is round I'm having trouble getting the edges to stick down completely without sticking to itself. It's as if the label isn't stretchy enough, like it needs to be thinner. Any tips??
